Te Tengo Dentro, Todo el Tiempo (I have you within, always) is a song I composed for my mother, Valentina. I remember one night, she texted me and asked me if I would ever compose something in her native Spanish. Fast forward some time, and on a busy and solemn time in my life, I composed this song as a tribute to my mom. For some time, I had carried the melody in my mind and it only took me four days to fully compose and orchestrate this composition. I wanted to be authentic and true to what I was thinking at that time. This song is in the style of a Mexican Serenade, "una serenata", most commonly affiliated with the Mexican Ballads, also known as "bolero ranchero". At the premiere, I decided to use a contemporary "mariachi." I think it gave it a very distinct sound, maybe perhaps flavor, to the entire composition. This song is a very special one. Not only is it dedicated to my mother, but it is also dedicated to all of the people out there who love someone; It might be platonic love, love from a brother to a sister, or a couple, but it is just about love and always having "that person in your mind" all the time.
